The group has a rich history, having been one of the leading coach holiday companies since the original brand, Happiways was founded in 1903.

Over 115 years, we have grown and innovated with the industry, taking the first ever coach party from the UK to Europe in 1938 and growing to control seven brands offering a variety of leisure breaks.

SLG operates accommodation through Coast & Country and Bay Hotels with the two brands running over 45 properties across the UK. Coast & Country hotels offers quality accommodation in stunning surroundings, from cliff-top positions to lakeside views. Bay Hotels has an extensive portfolio of hotels throughout England, Wales and Scotland and recently has seen a significant amount of investment in rooms and public areas.

Shearings Holidays is the UK’s largest escorted tour company, operating a broad range of holidays to more than 170 destinations in the UK, Europe and Worldwide. Offering tours by coach, rail and air, as well as river cruises, the company has won numerous industry awards in its history.

National Holidays is the UK’s leading specialist in short breaks by coach, with over 1000 holidays to the UK and Europe in their product range. In Scotland we operate Caledonian Travel, Scotland's largest coach holiday company.

Our group’s newest venture is Country Living Hotels. For this we have partnered with Country Living Magazine, the UK’s best-selling home interest magazine whose team has helped redesign interiors and service level of two of our Coast & Country hotels to create relaxing and stylish properties which give guests an escape from the everyday.

SLG’S most recent acquisition was, purchased in 2016 it operates UK self-drive tours, events and experiences. A feature of their holidays are the added extras that are included for customers, including evening cabaret entertainment and theatre, comedy, musical , sporting, concert and special event breaks across the country.

SLG also operates a number of Wallace Arnold Travel shops across Yorkshire, which sell holidays with SLG brands as well as other third-party companies.

The group now employs 2600 people, with 1.1 million customers taking holidays, breaks and cruises to over 200 destinations. Customer satisfaction is one of our main priorities and we see a 66% repeat customer rate, showing that our attention to customer satisfaction is one of our core values.
